LASU Graduates Cry Out - We Need Our Certificates

Thousands of part-time programme graduates of the Lagos State University, Lagos, western Nigeria, now roam the streets daily in frustration following the refusal of the institution to present them with their results and certificates.

While many of the graduates have been forced into menial jobs just to earn money barely enough to feed themselves, others have merely resigned to fate taking things as they come years after graduating from the institution without a proof.

“You can see where I work now. I never thought that I would end up fixing hair,” Olusegun Adebayo, one of the affected graduates told P.M.NEWS at Ikeja.

“Now I’m a hustler. I have realised that I wasted a good number of years thinking I was going to school, hustled to pay my tuition, read so hard for the examinations. Five years after graduation, I can’t even tell people I attended a university.”

He said the university management had continued to conceal the true situation and instead has been raising their hopes.

“We need our results. We have tried several options to no avail. We may be forced therefore to take the laws into our hands one day,” he warned.

According to Wale Otusanya, who was admitted to study Mass Communication in the 2002/03 academic session, the problem started in 2005, when the university management did not fulfil its promise to make results available at the end of every session.

He stated that all efforts to get their results ever since have been frustrated by the university management.

Otusanya noted that on two occasions in 2011, students were asked to bring their complete course forms from 100 Level to 400 Level, yet nothing came out of that verification exercise.

Investigation by P.M.NEWS showed that the institution may not have known the true identities or names of the graduates who have the problem. This is because there are no verifiable documents to show that the students actually graduated from the institution.

A call made to the Vice Chancellor for his reaction was not taken. The VC did not also respond to a text message by our correspondent.

How To Remove Shortcut Virus From your Computer or Device

Have you ever encountered 'Shortcut viruses' on your flash drive/External Hard disk before? If yes, then you should know how frustrating it can be.

Well,as it is,just having an Anti-virus on a Computer system isn't protective enough, but occasionally updating it as new viruses are being made and spread each day.

Amongst these numerous viruses, there's this virus which is capable of changing/turning folders of extremely large MBs/GBs into small KBs and its often named “regsvr virus”(NOTE: Do not confuse it with the System file regsvr32 as they are two entirely different files.)

Like I mentioned above, when this virus strikes your Computer it automatically changes folders & sometimes files into a shortcut which can neither be opened nor run.

So,in this tutorial,I'll be giving some tips on 'how to get rid of these viruses on a system and retrieve your files back.
As there are `a thousand and one` fixes for this issue,I'll try as much as possible to give the easiest of them here.
So tighten your seat-belt and let's begin.
How To Get Rid of Shortcut Viruses On A Computer and Removable Drives
First and foremost,it's advisable you update your Anti-virus to see how it all goes and if this doesn't solve the issue, you can proceed to the methods below.

Apart from updating your Antivirus, there are some softwares capable of getting rid of this virus.

The best of them are listed below
SVRTool.exe
Autorun Exterminator
Smadav shortcut virus remover
Wnload Combofix shortcut remover
So,download any of those and follow the instructions on the sites to use them.

Manual fixes are also available to solve this problem. Therefore, you can make use of any method you consider easier.

a.)Insert whichever drive is infected by this virus into your system and check the
drive's extension i.e A: .... Z: from ‘My Computer’

b.) Click Start » Run or Press Winkey+R and type cmd in the textbox provided - Hit
Enter.

c.)Copy and paste the code below into the command prompt and hit 'Enter'.
attrib -h -r -s /s /d E:\*.* (Change E: to your drive's extension.)

d.)Now,check to confirm that the virus has been completely cleared-off.

Else,you can use this alternative.

a.)Go to the control panel to untick “Hide protected operating system files” or
simply use the search box.

b.)Navigate to “C:\Windows\System32” and manually delete regsvr

c.)If you can't find the file in System32, then try locating it in “C:\program files”
If you still cannot find it there, then try locating it in the “Processes” tab in Task Manager.

Now,with all the software & manual fixes highlighted above, one is bound to work for the drive.

Reasons Why PC/Laptops Crash You Must Know

Fatal Error

The system has become unstable or is busy," it says. "Enter to return to Windows or press Control-Alt-Delete to restart your computer. If you do this you will lose any unsaved information in all open applications." You have just been struck by the Blue Screen of Death. Anyone who uses Mcft Windows will be familiar with this. What can you do? More importantly, how can you prevent it happening?

Hardware conflict: The number one reason why Windows crashes is hardware conflict. Each hardware device communicates to other devices through an Interrupt Request Channel (IRQ). These are supposed to be unique for each device. For example, a printer usually connects internally on IRQ 7, The keyboard usually uses IRQ 1, and the floppy disk drive IRQ 6 each device will try to hog a single IRQ for itself.
If there are a lot of devices, or if they are not installed properly, two of them may end up sharing the same IRQ number. When the user tries to use both devices at the same time, a crash can happen. The way to check if your computer has a hardware conflict is through the following route:

How to Change folder background in Windows 7/vista/xp

I like to customize my folder and drive’s icon, color, view to give it a unique look. What about changing folder background? Usually we use software to do that. But here i change the folder’s background without any software. To do so firstly i would like you to know, what is the “desktop.ini” and how it works?

Desktop.ini is the file where system assigns the values of icon, info, background image source etc. The folder will gives info about itself or a thumbnail view which has the proper desktop.ini file. It is a hidden system file and it's possible to show by CASE: 2 step: 2 in this article. Nothing to worry about it because the system can automatically create a new one if the file is being damaged or absent. It just needs a reboot of the system.

Both parties have reportedly signed the MoU today in Abuja indicating that the strike would be called off sooner rather than later.
