Learn How To Activate Your Verve Cards For Online Transactions at Nigeria ATMs

The Verve Card is the new Interswitch Debit Card now with the Chip and PIN. Verve is the new name of the more secure and convenient Interswitch card with which  the introduction of chip and PIN makes transactions safer and with Quickteller services, adds convenience to everyday life. Verve is issued by Nigeria Banks and powered by Interswitch. The Verve is simply the new name of the
InterSwitch ATM card. The different types of Verve cards includes: Verve Debit, Verve PrePaid and Master Card Verve. The Verve Debit Card is the one linked to your savings or current account by your bank.

You can use your Verve card on all channels (ATMs, mobile, POS, Web, and Kiosk) and locations with logos bearing: Verve, InterSwitch, Quickteller, Reward. I use my Verve debit cards a lot to pay for online transactions as well as transfer money to other bank accounts via the Quickteller app. You can also use it to withdraw cash, pay bills and purchase airtime at ATMs.
Nigerian Banks that currently issue Verve cards are listed below:

Access Bank Plc, Ecobank Plc, Enterprise Bank Limited, FCMB, First Bank Plc,
Fidelity Bank Plc, Heritage bank Limited, Jaiz Bank, Keystone Bank, Wema Bank Plc,
Mainstreet Bank Limited, Sterling Bank Plc, Skye Bank Plc, UBA, Unity Bank Plc

Simply walk into any bank branch to request for a Verve Card.

Once you get your verve card, activate it by changing the PIN at the ATM. Once activated, you can start using it for your transactions but for you to use it to make payments online, you must register the Verve card for Interswitch Safetoken Service.

Interswitch Safetoken Service is a system that generates a 6-8 digit One-Time-Password (OTP) whenever a transaction is initiated via the Interswitch Web Payment Platform.

Registering for the Safetoken enables you carry out transactions on any web merchant site that has integrated the Interswitch Payment gateway using a One Time Password (OTP) as a second level authentication process in addition to your Card Number, PIN and CVV2 code.
For you to be able generate OTP for your Verve card whenever you are carrying out a transaction with it, you will first have to register it for the safetoken service.

You can do that at a nearest ATM by following the steps below:

1 At the ATM, insert your Verve card
2 Input your 4-digit PIN and press Enter
3 Select your bank account type eg Savings or Current
4 Select the ‘Quickteller’ option from the ATM menu screen
5 Select ‘Pay Bills’ from the Quickteller menu list on the ATM screen
6 Select ‘Others’ for the bill payment menu option list
7 Enter ‘322222” as the Biller Code
8 Enter your Phone Number as the Customer Reference Number and select ‘Proceed’
9 You will get a display “Do you want to make this payment?” Amount Due:N1. (DO NOT edit the amount to be paid)
10 Click on “Pay amount due”

You will then get a confirmation page indicating the registration was successful!
Note that a surcharge of N100 may be applicable to a successful registration.

That is all.

Thereafter, if you want to make payment online with your verve card and you get to a stage where you are prompted to enter an OTP, you will get the OTP via text message on your mobile phone which you will use to complete your online transaction. If you add the verve card to the Quickteller mobile application, you will also be able to generate an OTP from the application.
